Lone Wolf.

This is coolbert:

Within the context of the amount of destruction that can be wrought by the single "lone wolf" terrorist this blog entry is germane.

Devoted readers to the blog are perhaps aware of the damage that was done just recently to the American Air Traffic Control [ATC] system.

The proverbial disgruntled contract worker, a suicidal individual, working single-handedly and with a minimum of the most simple tools available, was able to "take-out" the Aurora, Illinois, USA ATC center.

Cables from the radars to the ATC controller displays cut, those cables then wrapped with gasoline soaked rags and set on fire.

The damage substantial, even catastrophic. The fix not going to be easy.

ONLY this last Friday the Illinois Congressional delegation toured the damaged facility and were astonished at what they saw. Again, repairs are going to be time-consuming and expensive. TIME and MONEY understand too not confined merely to the ATC facility.

This disturbance to the air corridors and commercial flight activity in the United States quite substantial. That Aurora ATC at least of importance within the top half-dozen of such facilities with regard to both domestic and international air traffic.

All this done by ONE MAN WITH THE BARE MINIMUM OF EQUIPMENT.

And as to the damage that COULD be done by a gang of terrorists acting in concerted manner, nation-wide, the results even almost apocalyptic in nature. Think of the United States as a highly-specialized biological organism. Very susceptible to disruption.
